November 2018 Minutes, Feb 14, 2019
The St. Lucie Soil and Water Conservation District regular board meeting was called to order at 1:25p.m., at the St. Lucie County Agricultural Complex. Those in attendance were:
Philip C. “Flip” Gates Jr. – Chair
Mike Adams – Vice Chairman
Linda Minton – Supervisor
Jennifer Abbey – District Conservationist, USDA NRCS
Bess McKinney – District Administrator, St. Lucie SWCD
Leona Yates – Ag MIL Team Leader, Treasure Coast RC&D
Alyssa Leicht – Ag MIL Technician, Treasure Coast RC&D
Mr. Gates called the meeting to order at 1:25p.m.
Mr. Adams motioned to approve the October minutes. Mrs. Minton seconded, motion passed.
Mrs. McKinney went over the treasurer and budget reports. Mr. Adams motion to approve the treasurer and budget reports. Mrs. Minton seconded, motion passed.
Mrs. Abbey went over the USDA NRCS report with the board. She reminded the board that the Farm Bill has not been approved yet. Mrs. Abbey updated the board on the current contracts. There are currently 16 active EQIP contracts. The EQIP application deadline is December 21, 2018. There are 7 active contracts for CSP. The 2019 CSP application deadline is December 31,2018. Mrs. Abbey told the board that she is still assisting USDA Farm Service Agency with programs.
Mrs. Yates told the board that she and Alyssa Ag MIL technician attended the ICC meeting this month. Mrs. Yates told the board that she was ahead of schedule with evaluations and should have goals done by December, the end of the quarter. Mrs. Yates told the board that after they complete the goals they are going to try and catch up on some wells that need calibrating.
Mr. Gates told other board members that the Farm-City Ag Bar-B-Q went well. He told them that Brain Mast was the speaker.
Mrs. McKinney presented the AFCD Dues for $350.00, the NACD Dues for $350.00 and the Special District Fee for $175.00 to the board. After discussing, Mr. Adams motioned to pay the AFCD Dues, NACD dues and the Special District Fee. Mrs. Minton seconded, motion passed.
There being no further business to bring before this board, the meeting was adjourned at 1:40pm. The next regular board meeting will be held November 13, 2018 at 1:30pm at the St. Lucie County Agricultural Complex located at 8400 Picos Road, Ft. Pierce Fl.
