ST. LUCIE SOIL AND WATER
CONSERVATION DISTRICT
OCTOBER 8, 2019
The St. Lucie Soil and Water Conservation District regular board meeting was called to
order at 1:30p.m., at the St. Lucie County Agricultural Complex. Those in attendance were:
Mike Adams – Vice Chair
Linda Minton – Supervisor
Robbie Johnson – Supervisor
Jennifer Abbey – District Conservationist, USDA NRCS
Bess McKinney – District Administrator, St. Lucie SWCD
Leona Yates – Ag MIL Team Leader, Treasure Coast RC&D
Katie Pritchett – Soil Conservationist, USDA NRCS
Mr. Gates called the meeting to order at 1:30p.m.
Mrs. Minton motioned to approve the January minutes. Mr. Johnson seconded, motion passed.
Mrs. McKinney went over the treasurer report. Mrs. Minton motion to approve the treasurer report. Mr. Johnson seconded, motion passed.
Mrs. McKinney went over the new FY 2020 St. Lucie SWCD budget with the board. After reviewing, Mrs. Minton motioned to approve the FY 2020 St. Lucie SWCD budget. Mr. Johnson seconded, motion passed.
Mrs. Abbey went over the USDA NRCS report with the board. Mrs. Abbey updated the board on the current contracts. There are currently 16 active EQIP contracts. There are 9 active contracts for CSP.
Mrs. Abbey briefly discussed the responsibilities of local working groups and changes currently proposed for ranking and funding EQIP applications. After discussing, the St. Lucie SWCD decided that they will not hold a local working group meeting this year.
Mrs. Abbey went over the Annual Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity Discussion with Partners with the board. After discussing with the board, the St. Lucie SWCD signed the Civil Rights Responsibilities for Partners Checklist.
Mrs. Yates updated the board on the AG MIL activities. Mrs. Yates told the board that they are ahead of their evaluations this quarter.
Mrs. Minton updated other board on the AFCD Annual Meeting held in Ocala Florida in July 2019. She told other board members that the turnout was good. She also told everyone that she was no longer on the AFCD board.
Mrs. McKinney updated the board on the Webpage ADA update that is required by law.
Mrs. McKinney presented the invoice for the Special District Accountability program fee of $175.00. After discussing, Mrs. Minton motioned to approve the payment of $175.00 for the Special District fee. Mr. Johnson seconded, motion passed.
There being no further business to bring before this board, the meeting was adjourned at 2:25pm. The next regular board meeting will be held November 12, 2019 at 1:30pm at the St. Lucie County Agricultural Complex located at 8400 Picos Road, Ft. Pierce Fl.
